Problems on Moving Day
We don't have problems. Ok, sometimes life just doesn't quite go to plan. So what can go wrong?
Reserved Parking
Parking can be a problem for removals in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee. If your property has restricted parking outside, we can usually reserve ourselves spaces whilst we carry out the move. Sometimes though, people don't see the reservation notices, or just ignore them and park in the spaces we have reserved. That is a minor problem, solved with a quick phone call and usually resolved when the tow truck arrives and relocates the offending vehicle. Then there's good entertainment when the driver appears and their car isn't where they left it. If only we had a video camera in the van, there's a YouTube hit right there.
The Sofa Won't Fit
Your sofa won't fit through the front door. Again a small problem, we can open up most sofas and unbolt the arms and back to dismantle the sofa and move the individual pieces. If it went in - it's coming out. Don't worry, we never force anything.
The Missing Solicitor
The solicitor is out to lunch, and we don't have the new keys yet. This is a slight problem. We will wait for one hour without charge, but after that we expect you to demand compensation for the delay from your solicitor. This happens occasionally, and it's inexcusable. Most key exchanges are scheduled for a noon hand over, and some solicitors like to enjoy a long lunch. We advise that you keep in constant contact with your solicitors office to ensure that someone is there to hand over the keys at the agreed time.
Transfer Delays
The funds exchange hasn't completed so they won't release the keys. This is rare but the biggest removals nightmare. If the move can't be completed, we can deposit your entire contents into storage until we receive confirmation of the move. This will cost you more money for the storage term and a second removal from storage into the new home but you may have the right to claim these costs from whoever caused the hold up.
Severe Weather
On very rare occasions, the weather can stop us from working. Usually this would be because of severe flooding, gales or heavy snow. Depending on where we are in the moving process, we will return and complete the work when the weather clears.
Tea & Coffee
Not sure what this is doing way down here, when it should be rule number one. Don't pack the tea and coffee. We all like a break at mid morning, lunch-time and mid afternoon. Biscuits are optional.
