How much do removals cost?
The cost of your removals work will be dependant on the amount of goods you have to move, and what distance is involved. At one end of the scale, we have a student with half a dozen moving boxes and three suitcases to be moved from end of the street to the other. (Yes we've done that.) That would cost our minimum charge of £59. That price gives you our smallest van with a driver/helper for a period of one hour. That would be enough time to get up and down the stairs with all the boxes and suitcases, load them into the van, drive to the new flat and get everything upstairs to the new flat. The mini van is capable of holding around 10 boxes and suitcases and possibly a bit more depending on the size of your moving boxes.
The price would start to climb slightly if you need 10 boxes collected from a third floor apartment in Edinburgh and delivered to a third floor in Stirling for example. Then the price would rise to around £149 to cover the time, labour on the stairs and the fuel costs for driving to Stirling and back.
Another example would be moving a couple from a furnished flat in Glasgow (so no furniture) through to another flat in Dundee. A couple might expect to have around 25-30 boxes so the small transit van would be the best option. If the move is between ground floors, then we can still get this done with the basic van and driver, but for upstairs we would upgrade to a two man crew. The van and driver cost would be around £149, but then for the two man crew the cost would be around £195.
Moving up again, lets say our couple have some furniture to move along with the boxes, so we need the big transit van. We can keep the price down if you're able to help with the lifting and loading, so a full load from a ground floor flat in Edinburgh to a first floor flat in Perth would cost around £195 or for upstairs with the two man crew the price would be in the region of £249.
